This annual event is for charity and is held in partnership with the Greater Los Angeles Association of Legal Administrators (GLA ALA). It is called the "Justice Jog" and it brings together the legal community, local businesses, community leaders, CASA advocates and supporters, and friends and family. All proceeds benefit CASA of Los Angeles and its work to improve the lives of foster children.
CASA is the "Court Appointed Special Advocates" for children. CASA of Los Angeles improves the lives of children in the dependency system by pairing them with trained volunteer advocates. CASA seeks to reduce and reverse the effects of child abuse and neglect. In Los Angeles County, some 30,000 children who have been abused or neglected are under the jurisdiction of the Dependency Court. One-third of these children are age 0-5. Infants and toddlers are the fastest growing group of abused children. CASA will serve 6,000 children in 2016, including 1,000 with intensive advocacy services.
